    Head of “Sustainable Process Integration Laboratory – SPIL”, NETME Centre, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology – VUT Brno, Czech Republic and Emeritus Professor at “Centre for Process Systems Engineering and Sustainability”, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Budapest, Hungary.

    Previously the Project Director, Senior Project Officer and Hon Reader at Department of Process Integration at UMIST, The University of Manchester and the University of Edinburgh, UK. Founder and a long-term Head of the Centre for Process Integration and Intensification – CPI2, University of Pannonia, Veszprém, Hungary. Awarded by the EC with Marie Curie Chair of Excellence (EXC). Track record of managing and coordinating 93 major EC, NATO and UK Know-How projects. Research funding attracted over 31 M€.     

    Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cleaner Production and Chemical Engineering Transactions, Subject Editor of Energy and Emeritus Executive Editor of Applied Thermal Engineering. The founder and President of PRES (Process Integration for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction) conferences.

    Seven years Chairperson of CAPE Working Party of EFCE (European Federation of Chemical Engineering), a member of WP on Process Intensification and of the EFCE Sustainability platform. He has been awarded by the Web of Science and Publons a Highly Cited Researcher, Top Peer Reviewer and Top Handling Editor. He authored and co -authored more than 500 papers, h-index in Google Scholar 54, in Scopus without self-reference 48. His Publons profile (a branch of Web of Science) shows 1,251 reviews for 94 scientific journals and 3,906 Editors Merits for 20 Editorial boards. Invited lecturer at 49 universities world-wide.

 

2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hai M. Duong

Presentation title: Recycling various wastes from laboratory scale to industrial mass production

Short biography

Hai M. Duong received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Melbourne University in 2004. Since then, he has expanded his research interests in science and engineering applications of lightweight materials through experiments and computational modeling. He was awarded four postdoctoral fellowships at world-class laboratories: University of Oklahoma, USA; University of Tokyo, Japan; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA and University of Cambridge, UK. Currently, as an Associate Professor at National University of Singapore (NUS), he has awarded 4 competitive global innovational awards and over $6.0M for his research interests including a number of emerging fields such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), aerogels and their applications for aerospace structures, energy devices, environmental treatment, and thermal transport phenomena in small-scale of biological systems. He has 12 commercialized and pending patents, published over 10 book chapters, 150+ journal papers and conference proceedings, gave several keynotes and invited talks at international conferences.  Dr. Duong is also the key member of Functional Material Society and the technical committee on nanotechnology in Singapore and the editorial member of International Journal of Aeronautical Science and Aerospace Research (IJASAR).

3. Prof. Dr. Vincent Bulone

Presentation title: Value Adding to Agricultural Biomass Waste

Short biography

Professor Vincent Bulone is the Director of Adelaide Glycomics, an analytical centre for complex carbohydrates recently established in collaboration with Agilent Technologies Australia Pty Ltd, and Director of the Global Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

He is also the Director of the recently granted Research Consortium Program for Agricultural Product Development supported by the South Australia Department for Industry and Skills, focusing on the conversion of agricultural waste into high-value products, and the Research Director of the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre which will be instrumental in addressing Australia’s $20 billion food waste situation.

Vincent’s research is focused in various areas of Glycoscience, comprising fundamental research on plants and microorganisms, as well as biotechnological developments towards carbohydrate-based products relevant to the following areas: Bioenergy, Biomaterials, Biorefinery, Agriculture and Waste Management, Food Sustainability and Disease Control.

Vincent is a member of the Australian Research Council’s College of Experts and former director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Cell Walls. Prior to his recruitment in Adelaide, Vincent was the Director of the Centre for Biomimetic Fibre Engineering and the Advanced Carbohydrate Materials Consortium in Stockholm, Sweden. Vincent is the founder of the spin-out company CarbOzide Pty Ltd in Adelaide. The company exploits his recent invention on UV protective materials based on carbohydrates and natural molecular sunscreens from algae.

4. Prof. Dr. Won-Chun Oh

Short biography

Won-Chun Oh is full Professor in the Department of Advanced materials and engineering at Hanseo University in Korea and School of Materials Science and Engineering at Anhui University of Science and Technology in China. He obtained a Ph.D. degree at Dankook University in 1995. He started his current faculty position as full Professor at Hanseo University in 1998. And, he is guest professor in some of Universities in China, Thailand and Indonesia. He obtained the ‘Research Front’ award from Korean Carbon Society in 2004, for his pioneering work on ordered ACF electrodes, and obtained the ‘Yangsong’ award from Korea Ceramic Society in 2009, the “Excellent Paper Award” from Korea Journal of Material Research in 2010, and the Best Paper Award” from Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry in 2011, 2012 and 2015 for his pioneering work on ordered metal combining nanomaterials and photocatalysts, and Award of appreciation from ICMMA2011 and ICMMA2014. He is an ICMMA committee board member and, is appointed as one of the “Conference Chairman and Local Chairman” from 2007 to present year. He was appointed as one of the “Top 100 Scientist in the World” at IBC, UK in 2007. His current research fields are nanostructured materials such as metal/nanocomposite, graphene materials and metal nanoparticles, and their catalytic applications for future energy sources and green chemical technologies. He is the author or a coauthor of 693 papers published in domestic and international journals. Nowadays, many students study hard in his “Carbon and Chemistry Lab.” as MS or PhD course student. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Multifunctional Materials and Photoscience, Asian Journal of Materials Chemistry and the Advisory Board Member of the Asian Journal of Chemistry.

5. Prof. Dr.Yasunori TANJI

Short biography

Professor Yasunori Tanji received his Doctor of Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) in 1985. He has 15 years of experience working for Nippon Kokan Corporation (Japan) and has been as research fellow at leading institutes for biomedical and cancer research in Japan and the USA from 1990 to 1995. He has been an associate professor since 1996 and full professor since 2009 at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. His research field is environmental and biochemical engineering. He has published about 140 scientific papers on many prestige international scientific journals, participated in writing 31 books, registered for 44 Intellectual Properties of Japan and was awarded numerous prizes for his contributions in Science and Technology.

6. Prof. Dr. Kiyohiko NAKASAKI

Short biography

Professor Kiyohiko Nakasaki received his Doctor of Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) in 1985. He has been a full professor at Shizuoka University (Japan) since 2000 and full professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) since 2009. His research field is environmental and biochemical engineering. He has published more than 120 scientific papers on many prestige international scientific journals, participated in writing 25 books, registered for 39 patents (2 international patents). He has been one of scientific committeemembers of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Japan) and The Ministry of Environment, Japan. He has served as one of committee members of Science Council of Japan.
